NORTHERN BERKSHIRE TRANSITION INITIATIVE Presents AN INTRODUCTION TO TRANSITION TOWNS
A Positive, Community-Building Response in this Time of Change
Wednesday July 7th at Congregation Beth Israel ( 53 Lois Street, North Adams ) 7:00 p.m.
Free. All Invited.
Transition Initiatives are a fast-growing, community approach to increase local resilience and economic vitality. Thousands of communities around the world and in our region are exploring and using this positive, solutions-focused approach. The Transition process helps people face the enormous challenges of rising energy costs,
food, home heating, transportation and virtually everything in our lives, yet catalyzes practical, positive responses that enhance the quality of life. By "unleashing the collective
genius" of the community we not only develop positive responses to the energy and economic challenges; we can create more fulfilling lives, and a more just and stable world. This free evening presentation will describe the Transition approach, the growing global
network of resources, and some of the practical solutions at the heart of this successful model. Tina Clarke, a certified Transition Initiative Trainer, will describe the Transition model and share some of the reasons why the model is proving so useful to communities around the world. She has been working closely with many surrounding communities in Massachusetts, Vermont and New York, and will share what other communities of similar size and issues are doing to increase their resilience and create a more positive outlook for the future.
