Spring Break Art Detox is a series of three workshops on April 17-19 from 9 AM - 11 AM for children ages 5 to 12 (parents can drop off kids or join in).
Each session will offer two art projects focus on themes of recycling and giving back to nature, in celebration of Earth Day on Sunday, April 22
Kids will also enjoy a healthy snack during the workshop that they help prepare.
Tuesday, April 17 We’ll kick off the week by planting seeds together in a recycled plastic bottle—watch to see how much they grow over the next few days! Then paint your own pot in which you can plant seeds to bring home.
Wednesday, April 18 Give back to nature! Build your own birdhouse out of recycled materials, and decorate a reusable bag
Thursday, April 19 Join us in making seed bombs! Drop them in parks, lawns, or abandoned lots and they’ll explode—flowers, veggies, and other plants will take root where they land. Finish the week by making pinwheels from old newspapers.
Space is limited to 15 participants. Pre-registration is required by Friday, April 6. To register for classes, or for more information, please call Kidspace at 413.664.4481 x8131 or email kidspace@massmoca.org.
While a fee is charged for the workshops, admission to Kidspace during regular public hours (every day 11am-4pm, with art-making during school vacation) is free. MASS MoCA’s main galleries will also be open every day during spring break, 11am – 5pm.
Kidspace is a collaborative project of the Williams College Museum of Art, the Clark Art Institute, and MASS MoCA. Additional funding for Kidspace art classes has been provided by the National Endowment for the Arts.
