Event Description

The Hoosic River Watershed Association is holding its annual state of the river conference, Sept. 22, at the First Congregational Church, Williamstown.

We have been fortunate in that Jerry Jenkins, a natural resources cartographer who has published a book on the effect of climate change on the Adirondacks, and Jim MacBroom of Milone & MacBroom
(consultants to Hoosic River Revival) and the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, have agreed to be the bookend speakers, Jerry on the effect of warming and Jim on what happened in our watershed in Irene and how to mitigate future flooding. These two are nationally known.

In addition, we anticipate a panel on the future of The Spruces, infrastructure damage in Adams and the remediation work on the  Walloomsac.

The conference will be videotaped. We hope to offer lunch to participants.
